What does the real estate market look like for Hamilton County amidst the COVID-19 pandemic? Hamilton County, IN Last week, we blogged about the real estate market after schools had been closed and business were beginning to be shut down due to the social distancing regulations. Real Estate is deemed essential business and all agents are to be practicing specific guidelines to ensure the best safety of their clients. Numbers for the housing market were pulled from the week prior when the COVID-19 virus had started really infecting all the news and social media outlets (no pun intended.) This week, we take a look at the housing statistics from last week (3/22/20-3/28/20) to see what buyer's and seller's are doing during the "stay at home" executive order by Governor Eric Holcomb. Between Sunday, March 22 - Saturday, March 28, 2020, Hamilton County, IN saw a slight increase in the number of homes listed, yet the number of offers received has decreased. 175 new listings hit the market with 27% of those homes already have accepted offers last week when listed. Down by 1, only 14 homes were taken off the market that did not receive an offer. 119 homes all together pended last week which is down by 25 homes from the week prior, and currently there are 909 homes for sale which is slightly up from last week. These numbers have not fluctuated drastically and tell us that seller's are still listing their homes for the spring market. However, buyer's may be staying in or just not finding what they are looking for. In the past, Hamilton County real estate market tends to get a little slower around Spring Break. Now that schools are on vacation and people aren't traveling, it will be interesting to see what happens this week as the President has extended social distancing guidelines until April 30, 2020.
