- Population: As of the 2020 census, Carmel has a population of 99,757 residents.
- Geography: The city spans 49 square miles (130 km²) across Clay Township and is bordered by the White River to the east and the Boone County line to the west.
- Roundabouts: Carmel is known for its extensive use of roundabouts—a total of 141 have been constructed between 1988 and 2022.
- History: Originally called Bethlehem, the town was renamed Carmel in 1874 due to the need for a post office. It was home to one of the first automatic traffic signals in the U.S., installed in 1924.
- Attractions: Carmel boasts the Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts, the Carmel City Center, and the Carmel Clay Public Library. It’s also known for its beautiful parks, trails, and cultural offerings.
